METALLICA Bassist Talks About The Future Of 'Orion Music + More' Festival
June 4, 2013The second annual Orion Music + More festival, a music and lifestyle festival created by METALLICA and their friends at C3 Presents, will take place June 8-9 at Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. The event will feature performances from METALLICA as well as from the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, RISE AGAINST, DEFTONES and many others, plus, like last year's inaugural edition of Orion, it boasts lifestyle elements that reflect each of the bandmembers' personal interests.
In an interview with VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner, METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo spoke about what he hopes people get from the festival.
"Well, obviously, we want people to have a great time," he said. "We'd like to feel that there's a connection between the people that are there and also the bandmembers because, like last year, we interacted quite a bit with people in general, cruising around; we have lifestyle events that we're a part of. So, oftentimes, we're kind of in the mix and we're having fun with that. You know, normally in that situation, it's super-hectic and we don't really interact."
With this being Orion's second year in a row, VH1 Radio Network asked Robert if he hopes the festival will become an annual event.
"We're definitely working towards that," he said. "I mean, they say that when you try and put together an event like this, it takes about five years to get it off the ground and a lot of people say, 'Well, you know, if you did your own show, you'd probably get more people.' Which might be true, because sometimes your fan base wants you and only you or they want you and SLAYER and MEGADETH. But see, the thing about us is we have different tastes in music. We're pretty versatile in what we like. We like the format of the European festival where you can have a multitude of bands of different styles."
